This web-based tutorial is designed to assist individuals who are seeking to increase workflow in the areas of freelance writing and web design to create more consistent full-time income. These freelancers may not be utilizing the full array of resources available to land more projects. Furthermore, the tutorial targets freelancers who are in the early stages of their freelance career who have existing portfolios of work for showcasing purposes.
After completing the tutorial, freelancers should be able to increase their bidding opportunities by creating a more detailed portfolio, creating additional advertising opportunities, and using oDesk to leverage their portfolio. This should ultimately increase their project workflow. Individuals will be asked to write down how many freelance projects they bid for in the last month, how the bid was conducted, and what the outcome was (how many bids were won). Additional resources that provide more advanced techniques in project bidding will be provided as well.
Students of the tutorial will be expected to have an existing portfolio of work (preferably posted online) of either writing or website samples. This portfolio will be relied on heavily to showcase and market the freelancer's work. Freelancers must have a computer with Internet access and understand how to use the Internet (using search engines, filling out online forms, etc.).
Assessment of this tutorial will be performance-based. Upon completion of the tutorial, students will be asked to improve securitization of freelance jobs by 30%. Students will be asked to look back at how many jobs they bid on in the last month and how many were successfully landed. For example, if the freelancer bid on 10 jobs the previous month and landed 5 of them, the assessment will require them to land 6 to 7 of the next 10 freelance jobs the bid on. Please refer to the table below for more examples.
